The average American woman is a size 14 now, up from a size 12 just 20 years ago. Many plus size stores consider a size 14 the smallest size, and women who hover between a size 14 and 16 straddle two worlds. Not quite small enough for traditional sizes, but not quite large enough for plus sizes, finding fashionable clothing can be tough. This is where Miraclebody Jeans by Miracle come in.
Miraclebody Jeans by MiracleSuit - A Christmas Present and a Review
I am no fashionista. In fact, my fashion motto runs more along the lines of the late comedian Gilda Radner, who famously said, "I base most of my fashion taste on what doesn't itch." So receiving a pair of trendy jeans from Miraclebody Jeans by Miraclesuit was a lovely gesture, but I was concerned. Would one of Oprah's "10 Favorite Things" really work with my body and (lack of) fashion style?
As one of those women in the size 14 category, but with a very small difference between my waist and hips, finding pants that fit has always been a struggle. Low-rise pants make me look like Larry the Plumber. High-waisted "Mom jeans" don't work. Classic men's Levi's work well, but the boot cut doesn't. So when I opened the package and saw the Miraclebody Jeans in size 14, I was skeptical.
Oprah's "10 Favorite Things" Doesn't Disappoint - Skinny Jeans for Plus Sizes
I don't watch Oprah, either (unless it's on the television at the gym while I workout), so I had no idea that the Miraclebody Jeans are part of her famous list. My gift giver informed me of this as if presenting a Nobel Prize winner list, and I nodded politely and made the appropriate facial and vocal gestures that mimicked being impressed with something about which I knew, well...nothing. I'm from the midwest. We're always nice, though.
Urged to try them on, immediately, I did so. And Oprah is now my best friend forever. The jeans fit well for my body type; short-waisted women often struggle with traditional jeans, and low-rise jeans don't cut it, either. No woman needs to show the world her tailbone when she bends down to pick up her toddler.
The jeans hug and support in places they should (front panel, under the glutes) and are looser around the waist and calves. My pair, the Katie Straight Leg jean option, is an excellent selection for my body type. Miraclebody makes jeans with a boot cut, skinny cut, and good old jeggings (jean leggings), a shout out to the '80s.
Are Micraclebody Jeans Worth the $110?
Would I have spent $110 on these jeans if I'd never received them as a gift? Probably not. But the fit is superb and for someone who has relied on shopping in the men's Levi's section for most of her life, the joy of putting on a women's cut that fits so well might make the wallet crack open.
Now that I've tried them, I'd buy more. From time to time Micraclebody jeans appear on eBay, so bargain shoppers might keep an eye out for their size and consider buying used.
